Privacy Policy

1. What ProtoForge does not collect
ProtoForge does not operate servers that process your work. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Your API keys (stored locally via Electron SecureStorage)
- Your prompts or chat history
- Generated code, diagrams, BOMs, 3D models, or firmware
- Files uploaded for vision features
- Usage statistics, telemetry, or crash reports
- IP addresses, device identifiers, or location data
2. Your data stays on your machine
The application consists of a native Electron front-end and a Python backend that runs entirely on your local machine. All processing happens locally. There is no cloud component, no remote database, and no analytics pipeline.
3. Third-party services you connect
When you use ProtoForge, you provide your own API key from an AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, Together AI, etc.). Your prompts and images are sent directly to that provider via HTTPS. ProtoForge is only the client — your data never passes through our servers.
Please review the privacy policy of whichever AI provider you choose, as their data handling terms apply to the content you generate.
4. Subscription payments
The optional ProtoForge Plan ($6/month) is processed through PayPal. We receive only your subscription status (active / inactive) from PayPal to unlock hardware mode and sub-agents in your local app. We do not store your payment information, billing address, or PayPal account details.
5. Your rights
Because we do not hold your data, there is nothing for you to request deletion of from us. To remove all ProtoForge data from your device:
- macOS: Delete
~/Library/Application Support/ProtoForge/ - Windows: Delete
%APPDATA%\ProtoForge\ - Linux: Delete
~/.config/ProtoForge/
Uninstalling the app removes the application itself. Your projects and history are stored in the folders above.
